One Thing is Needful

Mary sat at Jesus feet,

Heard His words so very sweet.

She cared for her soul’s thirst

Which she quenched with the words of Christ.

Martha her sister was worried

With cares of the daily needs.

She went to Jesus with a murmur,

Asked why she alone should suffer.

Christ said, one thing is needful

Of which Mary is mindful.

The soul is more precious

Than what the world gives us.

Seek first the Kingdom of God,

Rest will be given by God.
