CCIL

Setting the markets abuzz.

Helping launch and explain an innovative new financial product for CCIL

The Solution:

The Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL) was introducing a new financial product at a special event that would be hosted for the heads of Treasury Departments of various Indian banks and the regulator – The Reserve Bank of India. In the same event there would also be reporters and a number of non-financial people as well. The company needed to present their new product in a manner that was simple to understand and yet engaging for the audience.

The Work

The Solution:

Using rhyme and narrative and drawing an analogy with bees an animated product presentation was conceived and sold to the client. While the client’s requirement had been to create something in powerpoint, the optimal solution was to use Flash to ensure not only a captivating animation to tell the story but to ensure that it synced well with the voice over narrative. The animation was well received and saw several other financial bodies seeking a similar treatment for their own products.

The Experience

Project Diary

To bee or not to bee

Sometimes you need to steer your agency into new seas. CCIL was a client that I helped the agency win because they had seen some prior work I had done for FIMMDA (the company my father worked for and for which I offered pro-bono creative services every year.) They were quite impressed with what I could do with a PowerPoint that they hoped I could do the same with the agency I worked with.

We did better, suggesting a full-blown animation to explain a complex financial product to key stakeholders. What I love was the fact that the client gave us ample creative freedom and guidance to make this project happen. A perfect creative partnership. I remember turning up for a meeting and having forgotten a key storyboard, and having to sketch it impromptu in front of the client and getting her buy in.

The work was also a memorable thing. Working late in the night in a desolate and dark office in a really old building with dramatic sounds in the night was entertaining to say the least. My colleague in arms Shirish Prabhudesai and Sandeep Sarma are two people who were pivotal in making this project happen on time. This was the first time I had done an animation with audio voice over that needed to be so closely synced. Setting the standard for presentations like this in the future.
